Vicuña is known as the “fiber of the gods” for its rarity and unmatched softness. These wild animals, native to the high Andes, produce only a small amount of ultra-fine fleece — roughly half a pound every few years. Because vicuñas are protected by strict conservation laws, they can only be gently shorn under supervision. Each stage of production — from hand gathering and sorting to careful finishing — is highly specialized and time-intensive. The result is one of the world’s most precious natural fibers: light as air, naturally lustrous, and incredibly soft against the skin.
