Yes. Cashmere is warmer than most people expect because it's so soft, you can layer it directly against skin without the itching that makes wool uncomfortable. A cashmere sweater under a coat is genuinely warm (the fiber traps air). The advantage over wool: lighter, less bulk, softer, less pilling.

Merino is the gold standard for layering. It's naturally temperature-regulating (warm in winter, cool in summer), breathable (wicks moisture, doesn't smell), and soft enough to wear against skin (unlike coarse wool). It's also durable—merino sweaters last 5–10 years with care. We use Australian merino (highest quality).

**Cashmere:** Luxuriously soft, excellent warmth, lighter weight, naturally hypoallergenic, lasts 5–10+ years. Better for layering under coats. **Merino wool:** Excellent temperature regulation, breathable, naturally moisture-wicking, more durable in active wear, washable. Better for outdoor/active use. Choose cashmere for elegance, merino for durability.

Yes, as a base layer under heavier pieces. GOTS-certified organic cotton is softer and more breathable than conventional cotton. For mild winters or as a base under merino or cashmere, it's excellent. For harsh winters, you'd want merino or cashmere as your active layer.

No. Cashmere is hand-wash (or delicate machine). Merino wool is machine-washable (40°C). Organic cotton is standard warm-water wash. Each material has different care requirements. We've labeled every piece with its specific care, and the material guides help you understand why.
