Mongolian cashmere goats produce some of the finest, longest cashmere fibers in the world — the harsh winters force their undercoats to grow longer and softer than goats in milder climates. Longer fibers mean less pilling, more durability, and a softer hand. Cable and ribbed knits are denser, warmer, and have visible texture — strongest for cold rooms and high-style layering. Lofted and boucle knits feel softer and more cloud-like, with a relaxed look. Plaid and patterned throws read as more decorative. Silk-cashmere blends add a slight sheen and feel cooler than pure cashmere; merino-cashmere blends add structure and shape retention.

All cashmere pills a little in the first few weeks of use as short surface fibers work loose — this is normal and stops once the surface settles. Use a cashmere comb or simple disposable razor to remove the pills as they appear. After the break-in period, well-made cashmere stays smooth for years.

Hand wash in cold water with a cashmere-safe or wool-safe detergent, or use a delicates cycle with the throw in a mesh bag. Skip fabric softener and bleach. Lay flat to dry, away from direct heat — never tumble dry cashmere. Reshape while damp to preserve the original dimensions.
