ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What's the difference between leather and suede?

Both come from the same hide, just opposite sides of it. Smooth leather is the outer surface, dense and hard-wearing, and suede is the underside buffed to a nap that gives it a deep matte color.

What's shearling?

Shearling is a hide with the fleece still attached, so the soft side sits against you and the skin faces out. It's the warmest choice Quince offers here, in a bomber, and a duffle.

Which jacket cut is the most structured?

That's the biker or moto jacket, with the asymmetric zip and stand collar it inherited from motorcycling. A bomber is easier, and a chore jacket is squarer and closer to workwear.

When is suede the right choice?

Suede is at its best on dry days, and it gives you a depth of color and a softness that's hard to find anywhere else. Keep it out of heavy rain and it will look beautiful for years.

What's a chore jacket?

A chore jacket is square through the body with patch pockets and no waist shaping, a shape that came straight out of French workwear. The suede version is the most casual cut in the collection.

How does leather change with age?

It picks up a soft shine at the elbows and cuffs where it flexes most, and it molds to you as you wear it. Most people count that patina as the best part of owning one.
