Question 1

When should I use a 1.0 TOG sleep bag?

Accepted Answer

Use a 1.0 TOG sleep bag in moderate-temperature rooms — typically 68-74°F — which covers most central-heated and air-conditioned homes year-round. 1.0 TOG is the most versatile single weight for households where room temperature stays in this band, and the most-given TOG as a baby shower gift because it works across seasons without parents needing to swap weights every few months.

Question 2

Are sleep bags safe for babies and toddlers?

Accepted Answer

Yes — sleep bags (also called sleep sacks) are the American Academy of Pediatrics-recommended alternative to loose blankets in the crib for infants under 12 months. The bag wraps around the baby like a wearable blanket and stays securely in place, removing the suffocation risk of loose bedding. Each Quince sleep bag is sized so the neck opening fits without slipping over the head, and the armhole openings are sized to prevent shoulders from sliding through.

Question 3

What is bamboo viscose and why is it used in sleep bags?

Accepted Answer

Bamboo viscose is a Lyocell-process fiber derived from bamboo pulp — naturally cool to the touch, breathable, and moisture-wicking. For sleep bags, bamboo viscose regulates temperature better than 100% polyester (which traps heat) and is gentler against skin than cotton (which can feel scratchy when slept on for hours). Quince uses bamboo viscose across the full TOG range so parents can choose by warmth rating rather than fabric type.

Question 4

What should I dress my baby in under a 1.0 TOG sleep bag?

Accepted Answer

In a 70-72°F room, a short-sleeve bodysuit or footed pajamas (depending on whether the bag covers feet) is usually sufficient. In cooler 68-70°F rooms, add long sleeves. In warmer 72-74°F rooms, a single short-sleeve layer is enough. The general rule: the baby should feel warm and dry but not sweaty at the back of the neck. Each product page may include layering guidance specific to that bag.

Question 5

What sizes do these sleep bags come in?

Accepted Answer

Quince sleep bags are sized by age range: 0-6 months, 6-18 months, 18-36 months, and 3-6 years. Each product page lists the exact sizing guide. Sleep bags are designed with growing room — most children wear each size for 6-12 months before sizing up. Sizing too large is the most common parent mistake; the bag should fit snugly enough at the chest that the baby cannot slip down inside.

Question 6

How do I wash bamboo viscose sleep bags?

Accepted Answer

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild, fragrance-free detergent (a baby-safe detergent is best for newborn use). Skip fabric softener and bleach. Tumble dry on low or hang dry. Run pieces through one extra rinse cycle for newborn use to remove all detergent residue. Bamboo viscose softens with each wash and holds up to the frequent laundering sleep bags require.
