ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What's the difference between whey concentrate, whey isolate, and plant-based protein?

Whey concentrate is the least processed form — typically 70–80% protein by weight, with more lactose and fat. Whey isolate is filtered further — 90%+ protein, minimal lactose (suitable for many lactose-sensitive people), and lower fat. It's the higher-quality form. Plant-based protein (typically pea, rice, hemp, or a blend) is the dairy-free option; a pea-rice blend provides a complete amino acid profile comparable to whey. For most people, whey isolate is the best single-source choice; for dairy-free or vegan diets, the plant-based blend is the equivalent.

How much protein should I be consuming daily — and how much does powder actually add?

General recommendations range from 0.7–1g of protein per pound of bodyweight for active individuals; 0.8–1.2g per pound for those focused on muscle building. A 20–25g scoop replaces one medium-to-large protein source per meal — roughly equivalent to 3 eggs or 3–4 oz of chicken. Protein powder fills the gap when whole food sources are inconvenient: post-workout, in smoothies, in baked goods. It's a supplement, not a replacement for whole food protein sources.

What do you mix protein powder with for best results?

Water is the most direct option — the fastest to prepare, the lowest calorie addition, and the best way to assess the actual flavor of the powder. Milk (dairy or plant-based) adds creaminess and additional protein. In smoothies, the powder adds protein to a base of fruit, greens, or nut butter without adding complexity. Some proteins dissolve better than others in cold liquid — whey isolate is the most soluble; plant-based proteins may require more vigorous mixing.

Are artificial sweeteners in protein powder a concern?

Our formulas avoid artificial sweeteners (sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame potassium) — a deliberate choice. The evidence on artificial sweeteners' long-term metabolic effects is ongoing and inconclusive; many people also find the aftertaste unpleasant. We use minimal natural sweeteners (monk fruit, stevia) or lightly flavored unflavored varieties where appropriate. If you're sensitive to any sweetener type, the unflavored powder is the cleanest option.

Can I use protein powder for purposes other than post-workout recovery?

Yes — protein powder is useful wherever you need to increase protein intake conveniently: in oatmeal, yogurt, pancake batter, baked goods (protein muffins, energy balls), or in any smoothie. It's particularly useful for people who don't eat enough protein at breakfast (the meal most commonly protein-deficient) and for meals where preparing a whole-food protein source is inconvenient. The unflavored variety is the most versatile in cooking; chocolate and vanilla work in sweet applications.

How is Quince protein powder priced?

Quince protein powder is priced well below premium supplement-brand retail for equivalent protein content and clean formulations. The real cost driver is the protein source itself — whey isolate over concentrate, quality plant blends over single-source pea protein — not the brand on the label. We skip the influencer- and retail-channel margin that inflates the supplement category’s typical pricing.
