Bath robes are designed for post-shower wear — high-absorbency Turkish cotton terry or waffle weave that wicks moisture from wet skin. Loungewear robes (cashmere, silk, micromodal, French terry) are designed for comfort over loungewear or pajamas — not absorbent in the same way, but warmer or softer in hand. Some robes (linen, gauze) bridge both use cases — light enough for lounging, breathable enough to wear briefly after showering.

Cold mornings: Mongolian cashmere is the warmest. French terry and brushed micromodal are mid-weight cold-weather options. Turkish cotton terry is the classic post-shower warmth. Warm climates: European linen, organic Turkish cotton gauze, and waffle Turkish are the most breathable. Silk is a year-round elegant option that breathes in summer and adds light warmth in cool weather.

Most are. Turkish cotton, waffle, gauze, linen, micromodal, French terry, and bamboo robes all machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle. Cashmere robes need wool-cycle washing with a wool-specific detergent, then lay flat to dry. Silk robes need silk-cycle washing in a mesh bag with silk detergent, then hang dry only. Skip fabric softener across all fibers.

Most robes are cut to a generous unisex fit — order your usual top size for a tailored fit, or size up for a roomier wrap.
