Damp-rated fixtures can handle humidity, mist, and occasional indirect moisture — appropriate for covered porches, screened-in patios, and gazebo areas. Wet-rated fixtures handle direct rain and splash — required for fully exposed eaves, pool decks, and uncovered patios. Each product page lists the rating. Installing a damp-rated fixture in a wet-rated location violates the product warranty and creates safety risk.

Hardwired permanent fixtures (the aluminum wall sconces, the outdoor barn sconce, and the outdoor ceiling fan) require an electrician for safe installation and connection to outdoor-rated wiring with weatherproof junction boxes. The Zafferano rechargeable portable lamps require no installation — they charge via USB and run cordless for several hours per charge.

Zafferano is an Italian lighting brand stocked by Quince. The Poldina Pro and Pina Pro are USB-rechargeable LED portable lamps designed for restaurant-style outdoor use — cordless, IP54-rated for splash resistance, dimmable, and running 6-9 hours per charge. Popular for outdoor dining tables, patios, and where running an extension cord is impractical.

No — indoor-rated fixtures are not designed to handle moisture, temperature swings, or UV exposure. Installing an indoor fixture outdoors voids the warranty and creates a safety risk (water in junction boxes can cause shorts or fires). The Contemporary Steel Indoor/Outdoor Barn Sconce is specifically rated for both indoor and outdoor use; all other outdoor pieces in this collection are outdoor-only.

Most Quince fixtures use standard medium-base (E26) sockets that accept incandescent, LED, or halogen bulbs in the wattage listed on the product page. Some pendant and chandelier fixtures use candelabra-base (E12) bulbs. A few designs have integrated LED panels that do not require separate bulbs — these are noted on each product page. Quince does not include bulbs in the box; check the specs before ordering.

Wipe aluminum and steel housings with a damp cloth and mild detergent every few months to remove dust, salt residue, and pollen. Coastal homes should rinse fixtures with fresh water periodically to prevent salt corrosion. Polycarbonate and glass shades clean with standard glass cleaner. Avoid pressure washing directly on fixtures — water can penetrate seals and damage the wiring.
