ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What does sateen weave feel like? How is it different from percale?

Sateen uses a four-over, one-under weave that brings more cotton threads to the surface — producing a smooth, silky drape with a slight sheen. The hand-feel is closer to soft satin than crisp cotton. Sateen traps a little more warmth than percale and runs heavier in body. Cold sleepers and silky-drape lovers usually prefer sateen; hot sleepers usually prefer percale.

What does 500 thread count mean for sateen sheets?

Thread count is the number of threads per square inch of fabric (warp + weft combined). 500 thread count is in the upper-luxury range for cotton sateen — high enough to deliver the smooth silky hand and durable wear, low enough to keep the fabric breathable. Above 500, marginal improvements in feel are usually offset by reduced breathability; below 300, sateen feels noticeably less luxurious. 500 is the sweet spot.

What finishes are available on sateen sheets — border, embroidered?

Plain (no surface detail) is the entry point. Embroidered Sheet Sets feature a subtle satin-stitched motif on the flat sheet and pillowcases. Border Sheet Sets carry a woven contrast band at the top of the flat sheet and pillowcase hem — adds a dressed-bed touch without competing with patterned bedding. Each finish ships in the same Luxury Organic Sateen base fabric.

Are these sheets organic and OEKO-TEX certified?

Yes. Quince percale and sateen sheets use GOTS-certified organic cotton — grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers and audited at every stage from farm to finished textile. The finished textile is also OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances from dyes and finishes and meets limits well below standard regulatory thresholds.

How do I wash sateen sheets?

Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Skip fabric softener — it coats the cotton fibers and dulls the sateen sheen over time. Tumble dry on low. Sateen sheets hold their sheen and softness for years with gentle care; the silky drape becomes more pronounced after the first wash as the finish settles.

What sheet sizes do these come in?

Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, and Split King — sized to standard US mattresses. Each sheet set includes one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and two pillowcases (one pillowcase for Twin and Twin XL). Fitted-Sheet-Set variants ship the fitted sheet plus pillowcases without the flat sheet, for shoppers who prefer to skip the top sheet.
