For someone who wants the most sparkle and the most predictable resale value, round is the default.

All three work well, but each creates a different look. A four-prong or six-prong solitaire keeps the focus on the stone and reads cleanest. A pavé band adds brilliance to the shank without competing with the center stone. A halo encircles the center diamond with small pavé stones, making the ring read larger and adding traditional romance. Solitaire reads modern; pavé reads classic; halo reads vintage or glamorous.
