Cashmere is more forgiving than its reputation suggests. Hand-wash in cool water with a gentle or wool-specific detergent, or use the delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag. Never wring or twist — lay flat on a clean towel, reshape while damp, then air dry completely before storing. Avoid fabric softeners. Cashmere is genuinely rare — the fiber can only be combed from cashmere goats once a year, and a single sweater takes the undercoat of several animals.
