ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

What grade of cashmere do Quince sweaters use — and why does it matter?

Quince uses Grade A Mongolian cashmere, the highest classification for cashmere fiber. Grade A fibers are longer and finer than lower grades — typically under 16 microns in diameter — which produces a sweater that is softer against skin, less prone to pilling, and more durable over time. Lower-grade cashmere uses shorter fibers that pill more aggressively and lose their softness faster. For a sweater you intend to wear for years, the fiber grade is the single most important quality variable.

Will my cashmere sweater pill? How do I manage it?

Some pilling is normal in the early wears, particularly in areas of friction — underarms, elbows, the torso where a bag strap rests. Grade A cashmere pills less than lower grades because the longer fibers are more tightly bound in the yarn. When pills do form, remove them with a cashmere comb or fabric shaver — it takes thirty seconds and returns the sweater to like-new condition. Most customers find pilling decreases significantly after the first few washes.

How should I wash a cashmere sweater?

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent or baby shampoo, or machine wash on a delicate cycle in a mesh bag. Do not wring or twist. Lay flat on a clean towel to dry at room temperature — hanging stretches the knit over time. Avoid direct sunlight and heat. With this care routine, a well-made cashmere sweater can last well over a decade.

How do Quince cashmere sweaters compare in price to other brands?

Quince cashmere sweaters are $79.90–$120, built with Grade A Mongolian cashmere — priced well below specialty cashmere retail for comparable fiber grade. We work directly with manufacturers and skip the wholesale and retail margin that inflates most luxury cashmere pricing.

How does cashmere fit — should I size up or down?

Our cashmere sweaters fit true to size with a classic, slightly relaxed silhouette. If you prefer a more fitted look — particularly in the V-neck or crewneck — sizing down one gives a trimmer profile. If you prefer a more relaxed, layered look — wearing it over heavier shirts in winter — sizing up one is a reasonable choice. The turtleneck is cut slightly slimmer by design to work cleanly under coats.

Can cashmere sweaters be worn to work?

Yes — a cashmere crewneck or V-neck is one of the most versatile office pieces a man can own. In navy, charcoal, camel, or black, it layers over a collared shirt and reads as polished without effort. It bridges business-casual and smart-casual effortlessly. Pair with tailored trousers and leather shoes for a complete, considered work look that requires zero ironing.
