Vests — when you need core warmth but want full arm movement. Best for layering over a long-sleeve (the long-sleeve handles arm coverage; the vest adds torso warmth), active days (hiking, outdoor work, biking) where arms need range, and indoor-to-outdoor transitions where a full jacket would be too warm indoors. Full jackets — when you need full coverage including arms, in colder or more exposed conditions.
