ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
What dress shirt fabrics does Quince offer?
What dress shirt fabrics does Quince offer?
Five core technologies. Non-iron Royal Oxford in 100% organic cotton — comes out of the wash looking pressed. 120s Supima with WrinkleGuard — the smoothest hand, an extra-long staple cotton finished to resist creases. Stretch poplin and stretch twill in organic cotton with elastane — for movement on long days. Recycled performance dress shirts — engineered for travel and quick-drying. Organic cotton cashmere — a heavier weight for cooler-weather meetings.
What's the difference between non-iron, wrinkle-free, and performance dress shirts?
What's the difference between non-iron, wrinkle-free, and performance dress shirts?
They sound similar but they're three different things. Non-iron means the fabric is treated with a finish that holds a pressed look after washing — you can hang-dry it and skip the iron entirely. Wrinkle-free (or WrinkleGuard) is a similar finish applied to a higher-grade fiber (120s Supima) — it resists creasing through wear, not just after the wash. Performance dress shirts use synthetic or blended fibers engineered for stretch and quick drying — they wrinkle a little but recover their shape as you wear them. Non-iron for the lowest-effort look, wrinkle-free for the most polished cotton, performance for travel and movement.
How does the fit run — slim, classic, or untucked?
How does the fit run — slim, classic, or untucked?
Slim fit sits closer through the chest and waist with a tapered body — designed for a sharper look under a jacket. Classic fit has a relaxed straight body, no taper — designed for full range of movement and a softer drape. The untucked dress shirt is cut to a slightly shorter length than a standard dress shirt so it sits clean at the hip when worn out of the trouser. If you're between sizes in a slim, the classic will likely run more comfortably; if you want to wear the shirt untucked, pick the untucked cut rather than untucking a standard one.
Can I machine wash these instead of dry-cleaning?
Can I machine wash these instead of dry-cleaning?
Yes. Every dress shirt in the line is built for home laundering. Machine wash cold on a normal cycle with like colors. For non-iron and WrinkleGuard styles, hang dry or tumble dry low — the finish performs better without high heat. For performance dress shirts, follow the same routine; the synthetic blend dries on a hanger overnight. Dry cleaning isn't necessary and over time can shorten the life of the finish.
Are these formal enough for a suit and tie?
Are these formal enough for a suit and tie?
Yes, depending on the fit and fabric. For a traditional suit-and-tie business setting, the non-iron Royal Oxford in slim fit and the 120s Supima WrinkleGuard read as classic dress shirts. For a wedding, interview, or a more formal event, the WrinkleGuard Supima is the closest to traditional dress-shirt fabric. The performance and stretch poplin styles read slightly more business-casual — they're at home with a sport coat or a suit without a tie.
