Merino Wool Sweaters

18 merino wool silhouettes across two sub-lines. Heavyweight Australian merino covers crewneck (Crew Sweater, Crewneck Oversized), cardigan (Button, Open, Oversized, Collared Cable, Duster, Crochet Trim Sweater Jacket), turtleneck (standard, Oversized), Cable Sweater, Cable Sweater Vest, Cropped Mock Neck, Half Zip Sweater, and Full Zip Sweater. The Superfine Merino line offers a Sweater Coat, a Boucle Oversized Crewneck, a Boucle Turtleneck, and a Fine Gauge V-Neck — these have finer fibers for a smoother, lighter hand-feel. All 18 are 100% Australian merino wool.

Heavyweight Australian merino — Quince's standard line — uses thicker, more substantial wool yarn for serious warmth and structured silhouettes. Best for outerwear-adjacent layering (cardigans, turtlenecks, half-zips) and cold-weather wear. Superfine merino uses thinner, longer-staple fibers for a smoother, lighter hand-feel — softer against the skin, with less surface texture. Best for layering pieces and transitional-weather wear. Both are 100% merino, both naturally thermoregulating and odor-resistant — they differ in yarn weight and gauge.

Merino wool fibers measure roughly 18-22 microns (Quince's Mongolian cashmere measures 15.8 microns — finer). That means cashmere has a softer, finer hand-feel. Merino is denser and more elastic — better natural stretch, better odor resistance, holds shape under active wear. Cashmere is lighter per ounce of warmth, with a more luxurious drape. Cashmere needs more delicate care (lay flat to dry); merino is more forgiving (some styles handle wool/delicate machine cycle). Choose merino for daily-wear durability + temperature regulation; choose cashmere for the finest softness.

Most run true to size. Heavyweight Australian merino styles (Crew, Half Zip, Full Zip, Cable Sweater, Button Cardigan) have a regular fit through the body. Oversized styles (Oversized Cardigan, Oversized Turtleneck, Crewneck Oversized, Boucle Oversized Crewneck) are intentionally roomy — stay with your standard size. Superfine merino styles fit slightly closer to the body given the finer gauge. The Cropped Mock Neck runs short through the body by design. The Sweater Coat is the longest piece — sits at mid-thigh.

Hand wash cool or machine wash on the wool/delicate cycle in a mesh bag. Lay flat to dry — never hang wet (wool stretches). Merino's natural odor resistance means you can wear it multiple times between washes without it picking up smells. Pill management: use a sweater comb or pumice stone for the first few wears; merino's denser fiber structure pills less than cashmere. Store folded, not hung. Avoid bleach. The boucle styles (Boucle Oversized Crewneck, Boucle Turtleneck) need extra care — the textured surface catches on velcro, jewelry, etc.
