ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

1. What is washable silk?

Love silk but can’t be bothered with trips to the dry-cleaner? Us too. We’ve searched the world’s leading factories to source the highest quality silk that can be thrown in the washing machine with all your other laundry. The best part? It comes out looking just as good as when it went in - smooth, soft and beautifully draped.

2. Is it OK to get silk wet?

Traditional silk really doesn’t like water. Water weakens the fibres and results in stains and discoloration. That means never washing your favorite silk blouses by hand, instead always dry cleaning them. Which, let’s face it, is completely impractical. That’s why we’ve created a line of washable silk camisoles, dresses, blouses and more that deliver on smooth texture, incredible softness, and premium draping. But, best of all, they can be worn as much as you like and washed with all your other laundry.

3. How do you wash silk by hand?

If you’re looking to avoid trips to the dry cleaner with your favorite silk skirt or blouse, it’s possible to wash silk by hand, but only if the silk quality is very high. Lower quality silks will be adversely affected by the water, resulting in stains and discoloration. If your silk feels full and doesn’t crease in your hand then the quality is higher. Or if your silk is “washable” then it can be cleaned any way you prefer. Regardless, just know that our silk shirts, dresses and tops can be cared for easily.

4. Does silk shrink if you wash it?

Some traditional silk is pre-washed to avoid shrinkage. If not, then yes silk can shrink when it gets wet. Our collection of washable silk pajamas and clothing is made to be washed and dried without ever shrinking.
