ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Do blue light glasses actually help with screen time?
Do blue light glasses actually help with screen time?
The science is mixed. Blue-light glasses block a portion of the high-energy visible light from screens, which some users report reduces eye strain and improves sleep when worn in the hours before bed. Large clinical studies have not found a clear benefit for daytime eye strain or long-term eye health. If you find them helpful, wear them; if not, regular screen breaks (the 20-20-20 rule — every 20 minutes look 20 feet away for 20 seconds) is the most evidence-backed approach.
Are these blue light glasses prescription?
Are these blue light glasses prescription?
No — Quince blue light glasses ship as non-prescription, clear-lens eyewear. If you already wear prescription glasses, you would need to add blue-light filtering at the lens-coating level through your optometrist, or wear blue-light glasses over contacts. Quince does not currently offer prescription lens fulfillment on these frames.
What's the difference between blue light glasses and reading glasses?
What's the difference between blue light glasses and reading glasses?
Reading glasses use magnification (typically +1.00 to +3.00) to help with close-up vision; blue light glasses have a clear, non-magnifying lens with a blue-light filter. Reading glasses help you see the screen if your near vision has changed; blue light glasses theoretically reduce eye strain from screen use regardless of vision. The two are complementary, not substitutes — some people wear both.
What are Quince sunglasses made of?
What are Quince sunglasses made of?
Quince sunglasses use Italian acetate frames — a plant-based plastic derived from cotton and wood pulp that holds rich color, polishes smooth, and feels warmer and lighter on the face than petroleum-based plastic. Acetate is hand-polished, hypoallergenic, and durable enough for daily wear. Hinges are stainless steel with five-barrel construction for smooth opening over years of use.
When should I wear blue light glasses?
When should I wear blue light glasses?
Most users wear blue light glasses during long screen sessions — computer work, gaming, extended phone scrolling, or any time you've been on screens for 2+ hours. Wearing them in the evening (after sunset) may also support natural sleep cycles, since blue light suppresses melatonin production. They are not necessary for short screen sessions or non-screen daily activities.
How do I figure out the right sunglass size for my face?
How do I figure out the right sunglass size for my face?
Sunglass fit is mostly about frame width — the distance across the front of the frames should match your face width (measured temple to temple). Each Quince product page lists frame width (typically 130-150mm), lens width, bridge width, and arm length. As a general rule: 130-138mm fits narrow faces, 138-145mm fits average faces, 145mm+ fits wider faces. The arms should curve gently over the ears without pinching.
