Momme (mm) is the standard unit for silk weight — higher momme means denser, more durable silk. 16-19 momme is lightweight (good for camisoles, scarves); 22-25 momme is mid-weight (best for blouses, dresses, sheets); 25+ momme is heavyweight (for pieces meant to last decades). For Washable Silk: machine wash cold on delicates in a mesh bag, with a silk-safe detergent. Skip fabric softener and bleach. Hang to dry or lay flat — never tumble dry on heat (which can shrink and damage silk). For wrinkles, use a low-heat iron from the back side or a handheld steamer held a few inches away. Avoid direct sunlight for long storage (UV fades silk).
